[Thoughts on VoIP, technology... and more] Vodafone Home Zone: Vodafone "Home Zone" consists in a very competitive rate to call any landline phone, using your mobile as if it was an fixed telephone while you are at home. This means that we are looking at the beginning of the war between Vodafone and Telecom Italia.

[Lucafiligheddu.blogspot.com] Thoughts on VoIP, technology... and more: VoIP NOW - News on VoIP ...: In my opinion, the two big points to solve (and I underlined them during my speech) are the following: the first one is that it is very difficult to discuss (disgraceful?) on a VoIP regulation made to "protect users" and "regulate a far-west condition encouraging competion", if there is still a very big issue regarding the regulation of the broadband access: the incumbent (Telecom Italia) in Italy asks for 10⬠to all the wholesale DSL operators in Italy, if they sell a so-called "naked" ADSL, that is an ADSL without the need of having a fixed line contract with Telecom Italia...and this fact creates a big problem in the competitive scenario.
[Telcotrash.typepad.com] Telcotrash: No good news for VoIP in Italy: I still wasn't able to find the original press release on the website, TelecomPaper was my only source (historic performance might not be an indicator, but they have always done a fine job with their research), so for the moment we are talking about rumours. The rumours however are justified in the sense that there was a meeting on May 12th (http://www.agcom.it/provv/determina_01_04_CODIP_riunione2.htm) during which regulatory aspects of VoIP were discussed.
[Blog.tmcnet.com] VoIP Blog and Podcast by Erik Lagerway: By Faultline Published Tuesday 22nd June 2004 11:40 GMT Last week we carried our thoughts and impressions from the VON (voice over networks) conference in London and focused on the difference between the instantaneous gratification of Skype for private individuals and the safe and efficient enterprise wide VoIP implementations, reliant mostly on the SIP protocol. Rohan Mahy, co-chair IETF SIP and SIPPING Working Groups, took issue with some of the things that Niklas Zennstrom of Skype and Kazaa fame said at the conference, and although enterprise VoIP isn't a central technology to Faultline, it is a valid and radical cost pressure on telcos and an opportunity for various vendors.
