VoIP Blogging > Delayed messages on Skype
[Signal to Noise] Andy bring’s up Skype’s most elusive I.M. problem: messages that show up days, even weeks after they’re intended to. I used to have this problem myself, and I believe Ken Camp have confirmed it as well. Of course, I don’t use Skype that much anymore, as I believe they’ve fallen behind Gizmo Project in many important areas.

[Mobilog.wordpress.com] Skype vs. Gizmo « The Mobility Blog: the calls with Gizmo sounded much more alive and “present.” Normally I’m dialing into our VoIP conference bridge (over the PSTN, har har) which does a fantastic job of butchering everyone’s voice, but when people were speaking clearly the Gizmo calls sounded much better than either Skype or my cell phone (Nokia E61).
[Voip-blog.com] voip-blog.com: In the midst of all the commotion about the FCC and their mandate to voip providers to include 911 in their service, TMCnet has an article discussing some concerns of voip providers. Specifically, the article is about Nuvio’s lawsuit claiming that the 120-day deadline is too short.
[Andyabramson.blogs.com] VoIP Watch: Nokia 770 and Gizmo: About the only thing I can't do is the dual service log in that lets me double up with PhoneGnome and my second line number at the home office which can now simultaneously be used via Gizmo as the dedicated softclient, providing me one more way to have less numbers. But that's the only thing I found that I couldn't do on the 770 version of Gizmo.
[Tipmonkies.com] TipMonkies » Blog Archive » A day with Gizmo; a Skype killer?: TipMonkies » Blog Archive » Says: July 20th, 2006 at 10:54 am. The Gizmo Project has been around for a while and weve mentioned it once or twice before .
[VoIP Watch] iotum/mynumo in AOL PhoneLine Deal: And as I'm writing this, Jim Courtney at Skype Journal has weighed in with a very CEO like detailed analysis of what this means for iotum and VoIP overall. Like Jeff and myself Courtney is seeing the 2.0 viewpoint and if I were AOL I'd feel like the rooster in the hen house being so positively received in the SKYPE Journal....
[kontrawize] Gizmo versus Skype with SUSE Linux and VMware... : Now that I know that I have to do voice IM on my host OS directly (or otherwise in a Windows session), I decided to re-evaluate Skype under SUSE Linux and compare it to Gizmo (which is currently still in beta, though). Short answer is that Skype wins, at least for my setup.
[ - tech whisperer] Hullo, Hullo?: On Alec’s recommendation, I downloaded and installed Hullo last week, but as of yet, I haven’t actually got it to work…. I have a feeling that the whole jig is based on Hullo calling your phone, and then it calls the phone of the person you want to talk to, and Voila.
[the push of the love directed life] the phoneputer: I ditched my landline phone about 5 (?) months ago since I got more calls for people not named Orrin on it then ones for a person named Orrin. Honestly I barely used it.
[Connecting the Dots] Conference with 500 people: Days later I'm on Skype's partner page trolling through the offerings and come across HighSpeedConferencing. This site offered the solution to the last two problems: people on regular phone lines anywhere could call-in to the same conference the Skype users were in and the ceiling on attendees leapt to 500!
[Alfies Blog] The Nokia 770 Internet Tablet 2006, a user... : Over the last week of using the device there has seldom been a moment when I didn’t have it on me, it fits into the back pocket of my jeans (it’s a little bigger than the Nokia 7710 phone I had a while back), and very comfortably into a jacket pocket. I’ve used it for both personal entertainment and for business, so I’ll try below to break down the functionalities of the device and show how I’ve used it.
[Byte of the Apple - BusinessWeek Online] Skype, Gizmo or Something Else?: That said, I also like Skype which I've used intermittently for a few months now. I'm curious to know what you think is better and why -- or if theres some other Mac-based VOIP client out there that I've missed -- that's also worth consideration.
